Sponsored by The Co-operators, the “S.C.O.R.E.” Program is an assembly program that will be carried out at elementary schools in Guelph and surrounding communities. The Storm’s S.C.O.R.E. program - SCHOOL - COMMUNITY – OPPORTUNITY – RESPECT – EXCELLENCE – focuses on five fundamental lessons for children to succeed in education and in life. The presentation also features a segment on the “STOP, TALK, TELL” approach to ending bullying among youth. The players use their status as role models and their hockey experiences to convey these important messages to youth.
"Being role models to the youth in our community is a responsibility that every member of our organization enjoys and takes very seriously,” said Guelph Storm Director of Business Operations Matt Newby. “We’re excited to introduce the S.C.O.R.E. program because it puts our players in a position where it counts most - reaching out to the youth of our community. The S.C.O.R.E. presentation is more than a one-sided lesson it's a dialogue that’s designed to be an interactive and fun program that opens communication between children and their role models."
Each season Guelph Storm players and staff make hundreds of visits throughout the community.
