With two contests remaining in 2011, the door is still open for more noteworthy nights, but GuelphStorm.com looks back at the year that was with the five top individual performances of 2011. Between December 23 - 27, GuelphStorm.com will list the top five performances in chronological order...
Monday, February 21st... Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at Guelph Storm
Taylor Beck (2 G / 4 A / 6 Pts)
It's not often that a player racks up one goal and five assists in a single game and still finds himself relegated to second star... but that's exactly what happened to Peter Holland on February 21st when teammate Taylor Beck earned first star honours with two goals and four helpers including the game winner versus the Greyhounds.
In an OHL career filled with highlights, Beck's performance on Family Day 2011 in front of a sold-out Sleeman Centre crowd arguably tops the list.
The Nashville Predators' prospect assisted on Tim Campbell's powerplay goal at 13:29 of the first and doubled the Guelph lead to 2-0 with 38 seconds remaining in the opening period with his 35th of the year.
After the visitors bounced back with two goals inside the first 2:09 of the second, Beck and the Storm replied with four unanswered markers in just over ten minutes including a goal and two more assists for number 19 to spoil the Hounds' afternoon. Before the end of the day, Beck added his sixth point with an assist on Guelph's eighth goal.
Beck graduated from the Storm following a four year stint that saw him collect 267 points in 246 games to rank fourth all-time in career points including one afternoon in 2011 that easily ranks as one of the top five individual performances of 2011.
