GuelphStorm.com goes inside the Storm for the weeky 'Storm Tracks'.
Beck bites ... How important is the recently injured Taylor Beck to the Storm attack this season? The third-year forward has scored or assisted on 47.2% of Guelph's 89 goals during 2009/10. Take away the two games that he's missed due to injury (both versus Kitchener) and Beck percentage jumps to 48.2%. Top NHL Draft prospect Tyler Seguin is second in the OHL figuring in on 42.1% of the Whalers tallies to date. Beck is seeking to become only the second Storm player since Todd Norman in 1996-97 to finish in the top 10 in league scoring.
One goal games... 8 of the Storm's 12 wins this season have been by only one goal. The team's record in one-goal games this season is an impressive 8-2-1-1.
Big crowd blues... The Storm have played 12 of their 29 games this season with crowds over 4,000. In the 12 contests with 4,000 plus crowds, the Storm has won only 3 times. With crowds lower than 4,000, Guelph has won 9 of 17 games.
Inside the numbers... When leading after the first period, the Storm own a 7-2-0-0 record. On the flipside, a deficit after 20 has been trouble for Guelph this season with a 1-9-1-0 record... The Storm have outshot their opposition only 8 times this season including Sunday afternoon versus Kitchener. The 4-1 loss versus the Rangers was the first time all year that Guelph has failed to pick up at least a point when they had the edge in shots. Their record in the eight games is 5-1-1-1.
Road rash... Entering Tuesday's game at Kitchener, the Storm's 0.333 road winning percentage is third worst in the OHL ahead of only Niagara and Belleville. With 22 of their final 39 games to be played away from the Sleeman Centre, a climb in the standings will be nearly impossible for Guelph unless they improve on the road.
