Injuries and illness continue to hit the Storm in the early going with a number of players missing Friday night's game versus the Barrie Colts.  With defencemen Evgeny Molotilov (flu) and Tim Campbell on the shelf, rookie blueliner David Searle saw his first action of the season.  The 6-5 rearguard played a handful of shifts in the game and finished with an even plus minus rating...

Up front, forwards Vadim Guskov (flu) and Michael Latta (shoulder) missed the contest.  With several other players still feeling the effects of the flu, rookie Connor Tresham likely played the most minutes of any game in his short OHL career and performed well. Tresham drew penalties in two of his early shifts and netted his first OHL goal in the third...

Since being held pointless in two straight games to start October, Taylor Beck has been on fire for the Storm.  In the past 9 games, the Niagara Falls native has racked up 19 points including 7 goals and 12 assists.  Beck leads the team in goals, assists, points, powerplay goals and is tied for the team lead in shorthanded markers...

Defenceman Ben Chiarot leads all Storm blueliners with a +6 plus/minus rating and his 47 penalty minutes rank first on the Storm.  The 4th round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers has logged icetime on the powerplay and penalty kill units through the first 15 games.

Tied for 7th in the Western Conference and only five points out of third, the bright side for the Storm is there is definitely room for improvement.  The club continues to struggle on special teams with the 14th ranked PP and 20th ranked PK.  Looking at the combined special teams rankings, only the Niagara IceDogs have performed worse on special teams than the Storm this season.
