Storm stymied by Rangers again

By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury - Sold out Sleeman Centre crowd watches Storm fall to Rangers for sixth time in six tries this season.

By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury - Forget the Highway 7 rivalry.

Guelph Storm versus Kitchener Rangers games used to be 60 minutes of lots of passion, plenty of sweat and a little bit of blood. Not anymore.

Monday at the Sleeman Centre the Rangers won for the sixth time in six meetings this season, this one a 6-1 cakewalk before a sellout crowd at the Sleeman Centre.

Kitchener has outscored the Storm 30-13 over those six games, only one of which was decided by less than two goals.

“There’s no rivalry. There should be, but there’s not,” Storm coach Scott Walker said.

“It takes two teams to be a rivalry and Kitchener is holding up their end, but we sure as heck aren’t holding up our end.”

Monday’s debacle by the Storm was surprising in that it came on the heels of a huge 9-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers Saturday night in Plymouth.

My husband has the solution, just put the boys on the bus and drive them around for 2 hours they'll think they are playing out of town and should win!!

Some coaches have the ability to get their team ready for a big game and some coaches do not. I have watched the Storm from day one this year and I do not see a leader and I do not see a team stepping up to defend each other. Please don't continue to say "wait until next year".
It was great to see the arena full on Monday.
