Winners of three in a row heading into Saturday's tilt in Owen Sound, the Guelph Storm fell 4-3 in a shootout to grab a single point.
Garret Sparks was solid again in goal for the visitors holding them in the game late in the third as the Attack pressed for the go ahead tally. Owen Sound owned a 15-9 edge in shots on goal in the third and recorded the only two shots in overtime with several quality scoring chances including a point blank shot by Gemel Smith.
In the shootout, two of three Attack players solved Sparks, while Jordan Binnington in the Owen Sound goal stopped both Guelph efforts.
Scott Kosmachuk paced the Storm offence with a pair of goals, his fourth and fifth of the year. After Smith opened the scoring to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage, Hunter Garlent notched his first of the season with 64 seconds to play in the first.
Zack Mitchell had a pair of points including a pretty feed to Kosmachuk on the powerplay that gave Guelph their first lead of the night just 44 seconds into the third.
A pair of home dates coming up for the Storm with the Erie Otters and 15 year old 'phenom' Connor McDavid visiting on Friday night before the Peterborough Petes make their lone visit of the season on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
