Late in their 4-2 loss versus the Sarnia Sting on Friday, Cody McNaughton picked up his third point since January 7th.  For Storm fans hoping that was a sign of good things to come, the veteran forward proved just that as he picked up five points in Guelph's 9-1 upset of the West Division leading Plymouth Whalers on Saturday night in Michigan.

Losers of three in a row heading into Saturday night's game in Plymouth, the Storm pounded the Whalers early and often building a 40-12 shots on goal advantage and an even more impressive 6-0 lead after 40 minutes.  McNaughton scored the first two of the game including a powerplay marker just 14 seconds after the opening puck drop.

Along with McNaughton, seven different players enjoyed multi-point nights headlined by a four point effort by Ryan Horvat.  Not to be overshadowed were defenceman Andrey Pedan and leading scorer Zack Mitchell who both chipped in with three points apiece.

Between the pipes for the visitors, Garret Sparks stopped 30 of 31 Plymouth shots and owned a clean slate until 10:17 of the third.

Guelph will look to make it two in a row on home ice on Monday afternoon for a Storm City holiday tradition when they host a 2 pm Family Day start.  Standing in their way will be the Kitchener Rangers who have won all five head-to-head meetings so far this season.

Larry.
Great recovery in Plymouth. Make them pay for their penalties. Straight up the Ice with lots of shots and limited passing. Be nice to give the Rangers a workout which hasn't happened this year. How about one for the Home fans.
