Friday night at the Sleeman Centre, Guelph jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Sarnia Sting before surrendering three straight in the last nine minutes to make it interesting in a 4-3 win.  The victory combined with the Owen Sound Attack loss pulls Guelph into a tie for eighth spot in the Western Conference.

An evenly contested first period with both clubs exchanging scoring chances early.  Making his 15th straight start in goal for the Storm, Brandon Foote was perfect in the first frame stopping all ten Sarnia shots.  At the other end Shayne Campbell was nearly as good stopping nine of ten with only Tyler Carroll finding the back of the net finishing a nice three passing play from Peter Holland and Michael Latta.

The Storm wasted little time adding to their lead with Holland notching his second point and scoring Guelph's second powerplay goal of the night only 59 seconds into the second.  After sliding to break up a Sarnia attempt on the rush in the defensive zone, Holland was trailing the play going the other way and picked up a loose puck inside the blueline snapping it past Campbell for his 23rd of the season.  The Sting hit Foote with 11 more shots in the period but were unable to score while the Storm had 12 shots of their own.

Up a pair with twenty minutes to play, the Storm would double their lead to 4-0 before the mid-way mark of the period and looked like they were in complete control before Sarnia scored three unanswered in just over eight minutes.  Latta gave Guelph a three goal bulge only 37 seconds into the period when a Sam Lofquist backhand pass hit his skate and slid past Campbell.  The Storm notched their third goal of the night with the man advantage with Carroll burying a Latta pass shortside.  Latta's assist was his fourth point of the night and gives him eight points in two games this week.  A pair of Sarnia powerplay goals beginning with a one timer point shot by Tyler Peters, followed by a rebound goal by Kale Kerbashian gave the visitors life with 7:18 left to play.  Brandon Francisco's goal with just 67 seconds remaining made it a dramatic finish. In the dying seconds Sarnia pressed for the equalizer but came up short falling 4-3.

On Saturday night, the Storm will travel to Owen Sound for a critical 'four-pointer' before returning to the Sleeman Centre for their annual Family Day holiday game at 2 pm versus the Knights. For tickets call or visit the Guelph Storm box office.
