By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury - The Guelph Storm player that needs to make no apologies was making one last night.
“I feel a little guilty. It was a huge game and I didn’t have it for one reason or another,” Sparks said.
Sparks allowed four goals on 12 shots in the first period and the Storm was never really a threat to get back in the game the rest of the way. Three of the goals were ones Sparks would stop most nights.
“I wasn’t me tonight,” he admitted.
“I really wanted it to go well tonight because it was a big game. I’m not sure what happened. It’s just one of those games. I felt a little bit lost out there.”
It’s not like the rest of the team played well enough to win. There was little physical play, the forecheck was weak and cycling the puck none existent.
It’s just that this time the team didn’t have Sparks to bail them out like he has done so many times recently.
Zack Mitchell (pictured) scored one of the two Storm goals on the night along with defenceman Andrey Pedan.
