Welcome to Justin Auger’s coming out party.

In a game that featured 16 players drafted by National Hockey League teams, it was the undrafted Guelph Storm winger that stole the show Friday at the Sleeman Centre.

Auger scored three times as the Storm rallied to down the Plymouth Whalers 5-4.

He capped off his great night by scoring the winning goal with five seconds remaining in the third period, a highlight-reel marker that saw him cut in off the right wing, dangle goaltender Matt Mahalak, then pull it to his backhand to slide it into the net.

“It feels good to put something out there and show what I really have to offer. Now I’ve just got to keep doing it,” the 6-foot-7, 223-pound Waterloo native said.
