One of the first things that Syracuse Crunch forward Peter Holland learned in the NHL is that points are hard to get and sometimes even harder to keep.

Holland returned to Syracuse practice on Tuesday after a four-game recall to Anaheim, his initial action with the Ducks. Holland’s first NHL point was an assist, or so he thought. After the game, a review took it away from him in favor of teammate Brandon McMillan.

“It’s a tough league to do well in,” Holland joked. “I was excited about it. But that’s alright.”

Holland bounces back quickly, and subsequently got his first NHL goal, against Vancouver, with his parents in the stands. The Ducks are making a special display out of the puck for him, although the organization hopes he got more from his stay up top than that souvenir.
Holland has the tools to put a lot more pucks into the net. Anaheim wanted him to get a pointed reminder about all the little details that go into the making of a well-rounded player, especially on the defensive end.

I had the privilege of teaching Peter back in 2003 and admired his focus, tenacity and leadership with and within the classroom. It is not surprising this young man is performing so well with what he loves. Peter is remembered fondly by those who had the chance to work with him
