Performers of the month
Peter Holland – Guelph Storm Performer and nominee for OHL Performer of the month
Peter was named the Guelph Storm’s Performer of the Month after recording 22 points in 13 games throughout January. Holland recorded at least one point in 11 of 13 games this month including the second and third hat tricks of his career. Against the Sudbury Wolves on national television, the Caledon native recorded four goals, an individual best. The Ducks’ 2009 first round draft pick was awarded with three 1st star and one 2nd star honours during the month.
Holland was named the Guelph Storm’s AMJ Player of the Week twice and was the Storm’s top scorer during the month. He has had seven multi point games during the month of January, including his two hat tricks. Producing at just over a point per game pace, Holland sits second on the team in assists and third in goals scored.
Sam Lofquist- Guelph Storm Defenceman and nominee for OHL Defenceman of the Month
Lofquist was named the Guelph Storm’s Defenceman of the Month after recording 14 points during January. The Somerset, Wisconsin native tallied two goals and 12 assists in 13 games. Awarded with one third and two second star honours, Lofquist recorded four multi point games during the month.
Since joining the Storm in November, Lofquist has scored just under one point per game and is one point behind Adam Comrie for the defencemen scoring lead.
Brandon Foote-Guelph Storm Goaltender of the Month and nominee for OHL Goaltender of the Month
Brandon was named the Guelph Storm’s Goaltender of the Month after posting a 6-3-1 record. Returning from a hip injury that kept him out of the first half of the season, the Whitby native played in 10 of the Storm’s 13 games during January recording a goals against average of 3.01 and a save percentage of 0.915.
Solid since his return, the 18 year old was awarded with two first and two second star honours for his play throughout January.
Zack Mitchell Guelph Storm Rookie of the Month and nominee for OHL Rookie of the Month
Mitchell was named the Guelph Storm’s Rookie of the Month after recording one goal and four assists for five points in 10 games played. The 16 year old recorded the first multi point game of his career, picking up two assists in the Storm’s 6-1 victory over the Attack. Mitchell was awarded with the third star of the game for his efforts.
Despite missing three games while away at the World Under-17 Challenge in Timmins, ON, Mitchell tied fellow rookie Francis Menard for most points by a first year Storm player. As of February 1st, the Caledon native has nine points, three behind rookie leader Carter Sandlak.
