The Guelph Storm have announced the finalists for the Glad Mowatt Award-recognizing the team MVP. Peter Holland, Taylor Beck and Brandon Foote have been named as the nominees for this year's award. Current and former NHL players Craig Andersson, Kevin Dallman, Dustin Brown and Ryan Callahan are among past winners as well as Jeff Bes and Chris Hajt, the only two players who have won the prestigious award two years in a row. Named after Glad Mowatt, one of the original founders of GMHA in 1948, the award has been handed out for over three decades to the top junior player in Guelph.

The winner will be honoured this Sunday during the Storm's annual year end banquet where the 2009-10 Storm team will gather one more time closing the books on another season in the Royal City.

Among the hardware to be handed out will be the Top Defenceman Award, Owens Corning Tony Camilleri Memorial "Playmaker Trophy", Fay Scott Memorial Award for Academics and Community, The Fan Club Award for the Fan Favourite, The Booster Club Award for Most Improved Player, Wellington Motors Rookie of the Year Award, Wayne Smith Memorial Award recognizing dedication to the Guelph Storm, Leadership Award and finally the MVP Award.

Players who already received awards on-ice at the end of the season will be further recognized with "keep-sake" trophies. Such awards include: Top Scorer Award- Taylor Beck, Ivant Tennant Memorial Award Nominee-Zack Mitchell, Roger Neilson Memorial Award Nominee-Cody St. Jacques and The Co-operators Award for the Guelph Storm Community Hero-Connor Tresham.

Guelph's first round pick Matthew Finn, selected last Saturday at the OHL Priority Selection, will also be on hand to accept the Lou Embro Memorial Award. Given annually to the team's first round selection, Matthew will accept the award from 2008-09 first round pick Carter Sandlak and Storm Ambassador Rita Campbell. Storm overagers Conor O'Donnell, Ryan Gottschalk and Corey Syvret will also be recognized by GM/head coach Jason Brooks.
