Guelph Storm rookie Zack Mitchell scored his first goal at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge to help lift Team Ontario to a 5-0 win over previously unbeaten Sweden.  Storm first round pick Carter Sandlak is also representing Ontario at the tournament where he scored the winning goal in Canada's 3-0 win on Wednesday over Quebec.

Tyson Teichmann is starting to become Mr. Zero for Team Ontario.

Teichmann, the rookie goalie from the Belleville Bulls, made 23 saves to back Ontario to a 5-0 win over Sweden at the World Under-17 Challenge in Timmins, ON on New Year's Day.

It was Teichmann's second straight shutout win after backing Ontario to a 3-0 win over Quebec on Wednesday.

Teichmann leads all goaltenders in the tournament with a 0.37 GAA after allowing one goal in two periods of work in their tournament opening loss to Finland on Tuesday.

The win gives Ontario a 2-1-0 record heading into their final preliminary round game against Team West (1-2-0) on Saturday. A win would clinch first place in Group A for Ontario.

On Friday, Barclay Goodrow of the Brampton Battalion scored a powerplay marker early in the first period which proved to be the game-winner over Sweden, who won thier first two games of the tournament.

Oshawa Generals' prospect Lucas Lessio, Zack Mitchell of the Guelph Storm and Matthew Puempel of the Peterborough Petes all scored in the second period and Daniel Catenacci of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds rounded out the scoring with a short-handed effort in the third period.

Catenacci and Lessio also picked up assists in the win.

Ontario is looking for its third straight Under-17 championship after winning the gold medal in London, ON in 2008 and again in Port Alberni, BC last January.
