Former Storm netminder Thomas McCollum made his NHL debut with the Red Wings Wednesday night. After Detroit starter Joey MacDonald allowed five goals on 25 shots against the Blues, McCollum entered the game at 5:23 of the second period.
McCollum joined the Storm at the start of the 2006-07 season signing as a free agent. Named an All-Star in his rookie season, McCollum recorded four shutouts and posted a goals against average of 2.39 and a save perentage of .918. Recording similar numbers the following season, he was nominated for the OHL Goaltender of the Year. In 2008-09, McCollum played the first half of the season in Guelph, but was dealt to the Brampton Battalion at the trade deadline. He has since rejoined the Grand Rapids Griffins.
He was drafted 30th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
