The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Peter Holland is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 7th.

The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Peter Holland is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 7th.  
 
Holland picked up five points, three assists and two goals in three games and was a +3. Held off the scoresheet Wednesday night in Erie, Holland was named first star of the game against the Sting on Friday night, scoring twice and setting up Beck on the powerplay for his 36th of the year. Against the Rangers on Sunday at the Sleeman Centre, the 19 year old picked up two assists and scored the only goal in the shootout to help his team pick up an important two points. For the second game in a row, Holland was awarded with the first star of the game.

Currently riding a nine game point streak, Holland has been the Storm’s most consistent player since January 1st. Recording at least one point in 25 of his last 29 games, the Ducks first round selection in 2009 has recorded 49 points 29 games. He currently sits second on the Storm in scoring with 75 points and assists with 47. He has scored one short handed marker and nine powerplay goals putting him third behind Taylor Beck (15) and Matt Sisca (10). The Storm’s first round pick in 2007 is producing at well over a point per game pace.

Next up, the Storm face the most important weekend of their season heading to Sarnia on Thursday, hosting Erie on Friday and traveling to Owen Sound for the final game of the 2009-10 season on Saturday. Clinching a playoff birth on Sunday, this weekend’s action will determine exactly what place the Storm will finish in the standings and which opponent they will face in the post season.
