The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Peter Holland is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 22nd.
Holland recorded the most points of any Storm player this week scoring twice and adding four assists. Held off the scoresheet last Monday in a special Family Day Game, Holland picked up two assists, against the Kitchener Rangers on Friday night. The Caledon native set up Tyler Carroll for his 14th on the powerplay before assisting on Michael Latta’s overtime goal in the Storm’s 4-3 victory. On Saturday in Sudbury, the 19 year old scored the only Storm goal in the 5-1 loss. Named second star of the game on Sunday, Holland set up Michael Latta twice and scored on a tremendous individual effort from his stomach for the fifth and final Storm goal of the game.
Since January 1st, Holland has recorded at least one point in 19 of his last 23 games, scoring 22 in January and 17 so far during the month of February. He currently sits second on the Storm in scoring with 65 points, goals with 25 and assists with 40. He has scored one short handed marker and eight powerplay goals putting him third behind Matt Sisca and Taylor Beck who each have 10. The Anaheim Ducks first round pick is producing at well over a point per game pace.
Next up, the Storm host the Peterborough Petes on Friday night for a special 7:00 pm start time. After Friday’s game, the Storm head on the road for a couple making stops in Plymouth and Saginaw on Saturday and Sunday.
