The Guelph Storm announced today that defenceman Sam Lofquist is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 14th.
Playing in three games this past week, the Sommerset, Wisconsin native recorded four points. Held off the score sheet on Wednesday night in Erie, Lofquist rebounded with a goal and an assist in the Storm’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Attack on Friday night at the Sleeman Centre. Named third star of the game, Lofquist was a +2 on the night. Sunday afternoon against the Sudbury Wolves, the 20 year old was once again on the plus side recording a +3 rating while helping to set up both Taylor Beck and Peter Holland in the first period. The Storm would go on to eventually defeat the Wolves 5-2.
In 14 games so far this season, Lofquist is second on the team in defence scoring with 11 points, three behind leader Tim Campbell, and leads all Storm defenceman in goals with two. The month of November has been good to Lofquist as he has recorded multiple points in every game, but one so far this month racking up eight points in five games to start November.
Next up, the Storm travels to Kitchener on Tuesday to face the red hot Rangers who are undefeated in their last six. Friday night on home ice, the Storm hosts the Plymouth Whalers in the front end of a home and home that sees the Storm travel to Plymouth on Saturday. Friday against the Whalers is Red Friday in support of local Armed Forces members serving overseas. In partnership with Guelph Military Family Support Group and London Military Family Resource Centre, the Storm is asking fans in attendance to wear red to show their support.
